Subject: Ground observation of unusual vapor trails

Date of observation: 16 July 1957
Time of observation: 1157 MST (1857 Greenwich)

Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming
Condition of sky: Scattered broken clouds in two strata at 8000 and 15000

Point of observed trails: Near the zenith.

Description: Vapor trail arc developed as a very faint and narrow
trail. Pattern showed a full 180 degree turn and formed in about ww
twelve seconds, No plane or object visible ahead of trail. Unusual
pattern developed from what appeared to be vapor trails which

developed at right angles to the arcas shown below, These crosses
developed progressively with the formation of the trail but appeared
wider then the trail itself. Within about a half minute a second trail ’
developed moving from west to east ina straight line, The trails

disappeared within five minutes,
