(1) Description of the object:
(a) An elliptical ezg shape
(>) Object at first appewred size of 4 draz oarachute from a B47 vnean viewed
at a diatance of one half a mile, When the B—+7 and object separated,
its size was unable to be estimated as it was then realized that tha object
was at a great distance from the B—+7.
(c) Dull érab alumima color with little reflectivity.

would have thonzht the object to be a weather balloon i? it had not sub-
sequently moved,
(2) (a) The obdnerveors were returning to YWelin Airy Porce Mase during the lanch honr
and noticed a B-4? coming in for a landing on the downwind lez. ‘thay then
noticed an object at the sans azimuth and elevation as the B-47? and their
first reaction was that it was a draz paraconte, ‘Then the aircraft con=-
timed ita asprodteh ond the observers realised that the object was at a
much ¢reater distance than the B=47 (which was about one half a mile from
the observers). They stooped their car ont of cwriosity ond then belisewed
the object to be a weather balloon as it was stationary, The object next
bezan to eccelerate, 1st first rather slowly, and then with a greatly
increased rate, When the object moved ont of the viewers sisht, it
appeared to be going ut least Mech 2 or 3,

There were numerous aircraft in the air at the time of the sighting. However,
in the line of sight from the observers to the object, the B—4? was the only
aircraft present and it subsequently landed.
The two observers appeared to be mature, sincere and reliable individuals,
They have spent many years in tha vicinity of Air Fores bases and are accustomed
to the various activities of the Air Proving Ground Command, ‘he preparing
officer, however, can not offer any explanation for the sighting 2nd, since the
time involved (15 seconds) was quite brief, it is delieved that this
unidentified flying object is not of any particular significance,
