III. SOURCE'S DESCRIPTION (F SIGHTING: Source was at his home with his wife
when they were notified by the Kalispell Goc observation post that an unusual object
was visible in the south-soutbeastern sky. This wAs approximately at O405l5Z Sep
56(2215 hours MST, 3 3 Sep 56.) Source and his stepped out on their back porch
and instantly spotted a brilliant light at an; or appraximately 7o degrees

its movements to a yo-yo, although he added that it also moved horizontally as wll

III. SOURCE'S DESCRIPTION (F SIGHTING:
1. Source was at her home when she was notified d by the Kalispell GCC
cbservation:post that an unusual object was visible in the south-southwestern sky.
This was appraximately at 040515Z Sep 56 (2215 hours MST, 3 Sep 56). Standing
her back porch, Source imaediately sav a brilliant light at an angle of approri-
mately 70 degrees above ths harizon.
2. The night was cold, dry, and with very gusty winds. There was no
noon, but many gtars visible, despite scattered clouds.

incbes greater in diametor than the full mcon, In color it changed at varied inter-

Source atated that she had frequently observed the planet Venus
when abe was stationed in the South Pacific, and that this object was infinitely
brighter than any other planet whe had ever observed. She was emphatic that it was

1. Source was in his residence when the Gcc Post Supervisor telephoned
him at appraximately O40330z Sep 56 (2030 hours MST, 3 Sep 56) and informed him
that an urusual object was clearly visible in the scuth-southeastern sky and
inquired his opinion as to its identity.
2. Source stated that on stepping outside his hcuse, he immediately
observed a brllliant glow in the sky, in a south-southeasteriy direction, and
7 75 degrees from the horizon.
3. The night was cold, dry, and very gusty winds. There was no
clouds.
4. Source, who wore spectacles during the interview, observed the
object through a pair of binoculars (power unknowm) but could detect no sharp
outlines. He stated that the object seemed to have no shape at all, but later
decided that the trailing edge slightly more convex than the leading
edge.

III. SOURCE'S IOF SI NGS
1. Source was notified at approxirately 040530Z Sep 56 (2230 hours
MST 3 Sep 56) that a brilliant ob ject had been reported south-southeast of
Kalispell; he viewed it from the back porch of local GOCI Post Supervisor
(Refer to Parts One and Two this report) until approximately 041200Z Seo 56,
or hours.
2. Source, observing through low-jowered binoculars, described it as
a brilliant light operated with a rheostat; it would increase in brilliance until
full intensity was s attained, and would then dim down to a dull glow within three
of four seconds.
3. The night was pitch dark but with many stars visible, and the
object appeared to be brighter than the background of the sky. There were
gusty winds; the night was dry and cold. There scattered clouds.
4. Source stated that the object was constantly moving in an erratic
manner, and progressing slowly in a scuthwesterly direction. He estinated it to
be approxirately 35 degrees from the horizon, and that the object seened to be
dodging in and out of a misty cloud which appeared below it. At times, the
object was completely hidden by this misty cloud. At times, the jeut appeared
fuzzy and blurred, and at other times was clearly outlined. (Rerer to Incl l for
merory sketch by Sourcej. In his own words, Source stated that it looked to him
like "Half fmuit with Oldspbile rocket emblem behind it so that the point
of the rocket was ahead of the grapefruit, and the tail fins to the rear o the

III. SCURCE'S DESCRIPTION CF SIGHTING:
2. Source first observed an unusually brilliant object in the
southeastern sky at appraximately 04:100Z Sep 36 (0400 hours, MSr 4 Sep 56) in tha
vicinity of Xalispell, Montana. Be continued to observe it far an hour and a half,
until.it disappeared around dawn, when it seemed to rapidly descend.

report told of "shining triangle"s surrounded by a yellow
glow which hovered in the sky throughout the night. It
disappeared westward early Tuesday. Said the report,
