I was flying from Eglin AFB, direct to Eolling AFB and at
30,000 ft and object was called out by Ly Pogue. (We had a flight of
five5F-O4F's). Within lo nimutes all of us picked out the
object. (It was sighted about 30 nautical miles SW of Winston
Salem) (Approxinatedy 9:lO CDST) It had no apparent movement and we

II. RELIABILITY: SCURCE was a young man of average
build. He was quiet and very serious. - He seemed to be of above
average intelligence great deal of time to answer the
quastions put investigator and he was explicit in his
answers. The information veceived from the SOuRcE is considered .
opinion of the investigator.
III. SOURCE's Description of the Object:
1. SOURCE Was piloting and F-34F at an
altitude of 30,000 ft, flying over ope country, cleär sky, wind
dirsction: SSw 30-50 kts, temperature: cold. Object observed
thru sunglasses and windshield sit for a period of 30minutes.

4. This was the first time SOURCE I had ever
observed an object such as this and estimated the size to be that
of a pin head held at arms length. Very sharply outlined. Real
size or distance of objact could not be determined. SOuRCE states
that object t appeared to be matallic or highly reflective substance
spherical in shape. Comparabl a large balloon wit metallic
finish.
5. SOURCE statas that he thinks the object
was a heavenly body reflecting light. Cause: a balloon could have
been stabilized in position for a period of time and would have
had to be at a great dist altitude to maintain its relative
stabla pesition.

AFB, I sighted an object at about 2:00 o'cleck position. We had been
airborne approrimately 40 mimtes and were crcuising at 35,C00 ft,
LAS 500. first sighting the object, I made ira it was not a
refractive glint fron the canopy and then called t out to leader.
I had some difficulty in properly describing its position so the

able to spot it also. It was relatively very small, held a constant
position, was circular or spherical and fully brilliant over its

He seemed to be hurry to get the interview over and this may be
attributed to the fact he had already filed one report. However, he
seemed to be a person of above average intelligencs. He gave thought
sure of his answers.
III. SOURCE's Description of Object:
1. SOURCE was piloting an F-S4F type aircraft from
Eglin AFB, Fla., enroute Bolling AFB, Washinton, DC. SOURCE's
attention was directed to object by other members of flight and
observed the object for approximately thirty (30) mimutes.
2. It was bright day and the light was very
brilliant and the s sun was located to the pilot's right. SOURCE was
flying over open country in a northeast direction. SOuRcE was looking
. in a northea Caction when he first saw and last saw the

object such as this. SouRCE could not determine the spped or distance
of the object. SOURCE observed object thru sunglusses and the

for landing at Bol ing AFB.
7. SOURCE E stated that the object could possibly have
been a star, very luminous and appeared as a star; or
it was caused by phenomina of atmosphere - which enabled him to see
object clearly or r out of its orbit..
