II. RELIABILITY: Both SCURCES seemed very sincere and cooperative to the
investigator. Both told identical stories of what they had observed. Miss Farr
stated that she believed i in objects from outer space. Their school teacher (also
a GOC observer) was queried on the reliability ofboth girls and stated that Miss
was a "very mature and level headed girl" but that

III. SOURCES' DESCRIPTION OF SIGHTING: All objects vere sphericaL in shape and
appeared the size of a quarter held at arms length. Cbjects were observed with the
naked eye and through bincculars. There were no changes in characteristics when
objects were observed thrcugh binoculars. Objects appeared to be made of some shiny,
silver material.

This incident happened in a peried of abcut ore and a half mirutes. Through the next
one and half hours five other objects were bserved having the Same general direction
length of time (one and a half minutes). No cther object except the first seemed
to divide or drop a parochute. All otjects disappeared in the sky very abruptly.
Although SouRcEs could not give the aititude of objects they stated that none ever
came rear the horizon. The weather wes cluar with no clouds present. Temperature
warm, wind light. No sound wis con eoted vi'h. the ubjeets and no trail or exhaust

2. Winds aloft for tha Omaha, Nebraska area were checked and found to be
20 to 25 knots at 5000 feet. from 250 degrees, at 10000 feet 270 degrees 25 to 30 knots.
Surface winds were light at about 5 to io knots. The winds were the same direction
and velocity for about 24.hours.. .
3. A check of- the GOC aircraft log showed & total of five planes in area from
0121552 0ct 55 to 012315Z Oot 55. The five planes were identified as three single
Altitudes varied from low to very high.
4. A flight of two fighteer interceptors
GEOREF FJJN 3730. They were airborne at Ol2345z Oct 55 and checked the area around GEOREF FJJN 3730. They were airborne at Ol23452 Oct 55 and checked the area around
Shelby, Iowa at an altitude of l4oo feet. They reported seeing nothing unusual.

COMMENTS of Approving Officer:
Concur with the opinion of the Preparing Officer that the recovery of the
parachute and radiosonde equipment definitely
was generated by a radiosonde type weather balloon. Subsequent sightings can
nontechnical background of the observers.
