Weather observer, forecaster, and dispatcher the following conclusions: A rawinsonde
at Bryan AFB, Texas noted a cylindrical object balloon was released from Bryan AFB at
circling the base at an estimated speed of the appropriate time of sighting. Winds

SUPPLEMENTARY INVESTIGATIVE EFFORTS:
1. T/Sgt Everett Woolum checked with Carswell Flight Service, Fort Worth,
Texas, (CeoRef FJHC 4045 for aircraft in area at the time ighting.
Negative results.
2. A check was made with Base Operations at Bryan Air Force Base, Bryan,
Texas (GeoRef FJJA 4043) by T/Sgt Everett polum and aircraft in the
area at 15/0300Z.
3. A chack was made with C.A.A. at Collegs Station, Texas (FJJA 3254) and
there were no aircraft in this area at the time of the sighting and no balloons
had been released that evening. had been released that evening.
4. 4. The Motionography Departnent at Texas A & M, College Station, Texas,
(GsoRef FJJA 3246) was contacted and no balloons had been released on 14 June 55. (CeoRef FJJA 3246)
Mr. Myron S. Ligda stated that the Motionography departments at Texas A & M are
making Radar s scope photographs for the 33rd Air Division, and there were no
unknown objects appearing on the maps 14 June 55.

6. A check with 749 ACW at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas,
(CeoRef FHCq 2523) and negative result3.

b. It is quite possible that the object sighted by T/Sgt Everett Woolum,
A/zC Raymond E. Eutaneuer, and A/2c Wort L. Robonson, was a rawinsonde weather
from the Bryan Air Force Base, Weather Station, Bryan, Texas. The sighting of the
balloon. S/Sgt Vernon Gray of the Base Weather Station stated that in a period of
thirty (3o) minutes, the rawinsonde type balloon would reach an altitude of about
thirty thousand (3o,ooo) feet. All sources stated that the object was sighted at an
altitude of thirty thousand (30,ooo) feet. A/2c Eutaneuer stated the object actually
eye after dark, up to altitudes
of forty thousand feet. The light on the balloon is attached to suspension train

II. RELIAsILITY: SOuRCE was questioned on the telephone so physical features
were unknown. SouRce carried on a very intelligent conversation : and answered

and seventy (27o) degrees and then disappearing at an approximate elevation or
