This is to acknowledge your letter of 29 Jamary 1353
concerning unidentified flying objects which you photo
graphed during the period of 1354-1950. ‘The long time
interval since the sighting, the lack of supporting infor
mation, and the poor quality of the photograph made it most
difficult to properly evaluate this sighting.

However, enlargements show the objects appear to be

bir’s om the rise, provebly pheasants. Also, the fougy
conditdem of the aky indicates smoke, possibly from a

forest fire or brush fire.

We are returning the original photograph with one
enlargement, together with the latest Department of
Defense fact sheet on wmidentified flying objects,

dated 53 November 1957.
