Dear Sir
Yesterday, on April 19th, abot 1:20 P, M., while observing a
yapor trull just west of ™, Lavis, from horizon to horizon,
and from northwest to southeast, I observed an object which
appeared to be floating Just west of the vapor trail, alot halfe
way between Ft. Davis and your air field at larfa.
I at first thoneht it ray have been a balloon released +y the
plane that made the vapor trail, as it apreared to be abovt the
game altitude, Int vas not of a spherical shave like an ordinery
balloon, and perhaps larger, somewhat oblong in shape. ‘The object
then appeared to descend soreshat and resemble an eagle or Inzrard
sailing, but was rch too hich for such3 but still apoeared to
drift about like 2 bussard oni to hover et times. The ohfsct then
began to swing in an arc toward the north with great acceleration,
and short pointed wings hecam visible, as it passed over, at pere
haps half the altitnie of the vapor trail.
It contirmed to eccelerate until the speed became uncanny and much
greater than any jet plane I have ever seen, All the while it
appeared to be an amber color, There was no sourd whatsoever and
no vapor trail, it followed a corse a little west of north and
disapveared over the horizon beyond the Davis mountains, in about
45 seconds. As it became a speck in the distance it chanced
directions lightly two or three tines to the right, to the left, end
up and down, ari then cortirmed on the same course as hefore. Ail
the while it appeared to be coing about a mile in tro seconds,
I shall apvreciate your forwarding this information to proper
authorities, if of importance,
Tours very truly,
