2. It was first sighted by Patrolman 3178, Robert latter, 3103 Arlington Ave,
Davenvort, Iowa, and Patrolman #201, George Nicholson , 2042 WV. 4th, Davenport, Iowa,
whille riding in the northwest part of lavenvort, Iowa, anvroximately 90° 37' . Lonz.,
410 32* N. Let. at 2022 0.5.7, the prenaring Officer questioned Patrolman Lutter by
telenhone ofter t he sighting. lle stated that he stopned tha car and got out to be
able to see ths object better. Since it was west of him he proceeded west of Dav-
enport about three miles in order to be away from town lisnts and to insure that this
wag not an illusion caused by 2 reflection of some kind. ‘This was at avvroxinately
900 408 W. Long, 41° 33° N. Lat, at 2030 C.5.7. Both Potrolmen got out of the car
at 2 dark spot and turndd off all lights. At this time it chanzed color from white
to amber then to red to omber and then white sgain 2 number of tines.
3. ‘The Patrolmen then proceeded west along Hishway US 6, in en attemmt to get
nearer for a better sighting. It appeared to stay stationary while they traveled
four (4) or five (5) miles vest bat then sterted to move away from them still to-
wards the west. It was estimated to have been traveling faster then the car about
90. to 100 1H, since the Patrolmen were going 60 to 65 MPH.
4, Three quarters of 2 mile west of Wilton Junction, Iowa, at 919 2' W. Long.,
410 36° I. Lat., the patrolmen stopved ot a dark spot and sot out of their car to
further observe the object. They stonvved at this time because the object seemed to
be eaining speed and increasing the distance between them and it. uoxpecting it to
=9 out of sight in 2 short time, they wanted to be standing still and in darkness to
observe ite
5. After they had stopved and gotten out of the car, the object anneared to
pick up tremendous speed. The vatrolmen said it went faster than anything he had
ever seen before. As its sneed increased, its color changed to 2 very bright red.
{It seemed that the faster it moved, the brighter red it avpesred.
6. As it neared the horizon, it anneared to ston and hover over a varticular
spot, and also apnesred to bob up and down like a bell of tines. It seemed to be
circling 2 varticular spot in these bobbing motions. I changed colors, white - red
amber =- red - amver - white in that seqience during this movement. It then disape
peared in the distance, still west of the patroluea at 2114 C.5.%,
7. No optical or electronic sighting equipment was used.
8. The weather was clear with good visibility with about a 15 MPH iM wind.
9. There was no piysical ovidence such a3 fragnen 3, photographs or the like

Patrolman Lutter at about 2200 C.S.T. He has hai military servicsa during VV II ond
