An unidentified flying object was sight ed on ll January 1953 by
approximataly twenty(20) citizens of Gadsden, Alabama. The incident was
reported by the manager of the Gadsden Airport after many citizens confirmed
his own observations. The object

At 1705c, 11 Jamuary 1953, an unidentified flying object was sighted
by approximately twenty(20) citizens of Gadsden, Alabama. Among the
sighters were the Civilian Air Defense Director and the Manager of the
Gadsden Airport, Mr Mr. interviewee, sighted
the object while taking daily weather observations. The object was sighted
NNW of the town Cadsden at an estimated altitude oeight(8or nine(9)
thousand feet traveling SSE for five(5to ten(10mimtes during which
time it traveled from one horizon to the other. Mr. had handy
a small pair of binoculars through which he viewed the object. The object
glowing, multicolored mass but the relative size
and shape were not ascertainable. There were no sounds nor were there any
signs of an exhaust such as vapor trails. The weather was clear, visibility
twelve(12)to fifteen(l5)miles, and moderate winds NNw. The object
seemed to be drifting with the winds and finally beyond the horizon.
There was no air traffic in the location at the time. Mr. aknew
of no meteorological conditions existing at the time that would existing at the time that would cause such
a sighting. Only one(lobject one(l) object was seen and there is no and there is no known known exist ing existing
physical ev physical idence (photographs, etc.). etc.).
