P.3. Investigation
March Field, Calif.

Sirs:

I wish to report two sightings, this date, of the soecalled "flying
Saucer" cbjects, The first 23 follows:

“Watching the sun setting behind clouds fron the nark at Ocean
Parkway I noticed first one then up to six bright chbjecbs in ons rroup
in a location surrounded mostly by clonds, The avpeared and disappsared
and first one then two such objects appeared ebont a nile to the left,
of which one remained very visible for awhile then took off rapidly in
@ cirection alnost straizht away. Diminishing in size and brilliance,
After ebout 2-3 minutes this object came back, leaving 2 slicht vapor
trail, Thon somewhat to the richt and below the first croup a wide vapor
trail formed and a group of 7 or 8 such chiccts formed into a squadron

formation and remained stationary for several minutes. Then some of the

objects disappeared and others appeared in group No. 2. Then these bricht
cbjects simply disappeared whilst the clonds eround the locations remined

just as brightly lit. This ended cbhout 12 ~- 15 mimtes before sunset,

The second sighting waa at 11:30 whilst wallding home from Santa
Yonica Blvd. Directly »eneath the moon, sbout 3 diameters, I noted an
elongated brizht object of about 1/4 moon diameter long end 1/iéth thicke
ness, stationary for sevorcl mimtes, It tock less than 350 seconds to
open my door, drop the load ond grab 635 Ccers classes and look for the
object, It was cone but left « vapor trail which went up left at abont
10°, This object also waa quite brilllant of a mims 2 rating. General
ssarch failed to show any trace of it. Ths sky vround the meon wes quite
Clear with just a fow traces of whisps of cirrus,"

ZI would be interested whathor you have had any other reports on
the3so chjects,

Sincerely

7 - 7 500 MPH. A speed atteined without any time leg end lost the seme. At
one time they formed 2a perfect diamond formation in verticel echelon eround
en object which eppeered larger, round and not clearly defined. All this time
some were winking out one plece and winking on in another plrecee. Finelly the:
just, first a few, then one after another, winked off and were gone.

The second sighting was 11.30 PM. Walking home a long block I noted a bright
object 3 diameters beneath the moon. Watched it until I entered my door.

When I came out again, a few seconds later, with field glasses, it wes fone.
But there was a faint vapor treck going up at about 40° to the left.

A neighbor tells me she watched one a couple of months ago from her cottere
in Topange Canyon. Time: 2-4AM. It was evidently a closer sighting as her
description only differs in thet she claims that the corners were rounded,
When hanging still it had a slight pendulous motion. But moved to other lo-
cations at slower speed but without acce- or deceleration. Disenpeared at,
times but came back within minutes. Total time about 2 hours.

Whilst my observetion indicates simple maneuvers of group tectics anid movemen-
ts, hers indicate a survey of a limited location. My second sighting also
could have been holding a position for observation.

At no time did any of the objects observed show eny devieztion from a verfectl:
horizontal position. Never the slightest banking or slant.

I append ae picture of clouds taken erelier that efternoon which, I believe,

shows one of the objects. (circled in pencil.) Object evidently is partly
hidden by cloud.

Their light was generated by them as they were between me end the sun. fhowed
no refzlection. The one at night had a luminosity of -2-3 Their bright-
ness was greater than that of the thin, sunlit, clouds.

Most remarkable, their sharp, rectangular definition. Like ea frround metal
