Albuquerque, Now laxico 26 December 1952
I. Description of Incidant
At 2309 CST a military pilot sighted an elongated cigar-like object atout
the size of a medium bomber with an exhaust about eight times the length of tha
object itself. It traveled from east to west over Albuquerque, New Mexico. All
sightings were visual for a period of 10 to <0 seconds. There wore broken high
clouds at 30,000 feet with 40 miles visibility.
ile Discussion of Incident
All air traffic in the area was identified by Kirtland AFB. Tho object
may have boen a meteor since tha time of sighting was brief. In addition the
objoct had a tail, common to soma meteors. Hownver, not enough concrote infor-
mation is available to afford a possible solution, ATIC is in the process of
checking, past sightings against known meteor tracks and an answer might be found
horo.

I do not know of any object that had the appearance of what I sow other than a
largs white light. I cmld see nothing but the light end either ths exheust
trail, after burner, smoke, or what over it was. IJ% looked much like the vapor
trail of jets. I called the Kirtland Tower and they advised they had no jots ot
so I dismissed the thought of this trail being vapor trail froma jet. Besides
I doubt that a vapor trail from ea jet could have been observed in the darimess,.
