AS 1812 CST, 28 October 1952, while waiting for a commercial airliner a‘>
Love Field, Daiias, Texas, I visually observed an unidentified flyiig objestioma .
bearing of 180 degrees from Gate # 7 of the terminal. Its flight path was generally
SE to WW at a dive angle of approrimatel; 20 degrees, Itc position was some 15 or
QO degrees above the horizon, distance unknowi. Its speed was unknowa, tat the object
completed am are of about? 15 degrees im four (4) seconds.
There was considerable air traffie in the vieinity (normal Love Fish!
aotiyity) aad there was enodgh light that aireraft were identifiable as te generat
type when viewed in the southvest, the sux to the rear. I first noticed aa orange
@clored light which appeared te be nothing more tham the exhaust or running lightrc
of am airaraft. Then, I noticed that the light gave off az exhaust trail similar %
that of ar afterburner. I watched the light in its descending path for about four (4)
Seecnds wher, it seemed to fire a number of "rocksts" and vanished. There was PD
charge in flight path, nothing to indicate a crash, and no reason & believe that
she light had done more than burn itself out. The bursts ef light prevwousl,y re-
ferred to as “rockets” looked exactly like five (5) ined HVAR fired at;that time of*
days
Tne sighting was also pit by Dr. and Mrs GUM of Arlington
State College, Arlingten, Texas. stated that he was a former L*.. Comdir,
ar Nay Pilot.
Dr. QM and I reported the sighting to the U.S. Weather Office at Lg
Fiel! who apparently did not imow what to de about it. Ne informtion was written
“own, por did the individual sconeerned take our names. Not was said concerning
any cqndition, metecrological cr otherwise, which might account for the sightiag.
The sy; was clear and \paibility excellent.

I am a rated pilot ca flying status apd returned from air combat cperations
in Korea in late August 1952.

COMMENTS |f Preparing Officer:
1. Cbserver was cuestioned as to whether the object could have possibly
been a meteer. we stated that the trajeetory was too flat for 1% te have been a
mataw’, As to source, Lt. Baxter is newly assigned this organization as of 29 Aug
1952. However, he has proven himself to be a sober, reliable individual, and his
record bears this cut. :
