1. On 10 September 1952 an unidentified flying object was cbserved near
Andrews AFB, The object was described as shiny, natalie, alliptical with no
exhaust visible and emitting no sound. ts size was roughly that of a half

dollar. It was ata considerable height, its ancle of elevation being approximately
70? in relation to the observer, The sighting lasttitwo to three minutes duriaz
which the object moved rapidly back and forth over a short src. Finally the object
ros? rapidly and disappeared,

2, The sighting occurred at 1430 hours eastern daylizht ‘ize outside the
residence of the observer at 1 Dangerfield Drive, Clinton, iarilang, This location
is just east of Andrews Al'8, The sighting was in a northwesterly direction. ‘The

servor, Mrs. , 1s the wifes of a civilian enrloyee of Andrews Al3.
tusband, who was an air intelli zence officer during orld “ar IT and reported
the sighting, stated that his wife has only limited «nowledcze of aircraft tyres,
and rrac-ica no \movledge of principles of flizht, capabilities of various
aircraft, ete

3. Frior to 1600 hours local tire on 10 September 1952 a check was completed
with radar and tower operators at ‘ashington National Airport and Andrews AF3S,
All reported negatively as to this sighting. The weather at the tize of the sight-
ing was visibility eightmiles, clear, winds calz,

4. There were no upper air observations being conducted locally at the tim
of the sighting. Two ravinsonde releases were mde ‘ivring the day at Andrews FS,
the first wes at 0500 sastern daylizht time and terminated at 0540. The second ws
at 1790 and terminated at 1740, A pibal observstion was made by US “eather Burean,
Silver Hill Maryland, a+ 1655 eastern daylight time and terminated at 1741.
