yne observer was on the grounds one observer was in the control tower; and one observer
‘aa at 1200 ft indicated over the north-south runway on a heading of 170% in a T-28
lype aircraft preparatory to pitching out for Landing.

2» The object was described as a ball of firs with a long trail behind it. The
pall was estimated in size to be about. one-third (1/3) the size of the moon, ‘he
'rail was described as veing composed of sparks and as being fifteen to thirty (15-30)
times a8 long as the diameter of the ball. ‘The trail was thickest at she forvard end,

| ' 3. The ground observer stated that two (2) smaller trails dropped toward the
round at the same time in different ares approximately 100-200 feet in length, The
other two (2) observers did not make the sane observation,

The shape of ths odject was rectangular with blunted ends oad small trailing
tail of spares sad flame. ‘There was no sound at all. It preceded ina straight
courss with ro maneuvers, flying out of sight on @ nor’ theasterly sourse. the
object was of a fiery nature and bright orange anc yellow in color.

Through visual observation it was sighted at aporoximately 2025, © April 1962.
The sbseek was Sse at em approximated 2000 ft, altituce. If approximation of

altitude is near correct, speed of ths objeot was over six hund red (500) niles per
hour.

The observer was located at 51°, 36° north, 979, 05", SO'' west. Tris is the
location of the Caklawn Drive-in Theatre a fow miles northeast of «ace, <2Xa3,¢
toe Dallas Slcnway Fale.

The sbjee0s flew over the observer's (ir. CRY) bead at aa estinated 200
ft.altitude, rl; ying away from hin on a sortheasterly 1eading, disappearing from

engineer. The reliability of his statement can be estimated as fairly substantial.
The weather was as follows: scattered clouds at 12,000 ft., scattered clonds

Object appeared to bo rowmd ball of fire giving off freonish
glov and having a rea and yellow tail of fire and sparks. Object
euitted two or three enallor balls of fire which burned out. It
traveled a straight South - North course West of Templo, Toxas,
at about 030 dogreos heading and disappeared behind clouds. Speed
estizated from 500 to 6,000 “MPH Altitudes ostinated 10,099 to
150,000 feet, flat trajectory. Sound reported sinilar to that
of jet aircraft. All sightings visual.

Two observers at Evunt, Texas, were in R226 at 4£00' altituda
flyins Southe All others wore at ground level.

Weather sequence 2028 hours, clouds thin scattered 25,000';
visibility 12 miles, surface winds East at 4 mots.
