Me, » Glenview, Tllinols, Phone Clonview
SER; waa Anterrogeted by Lt E, J, Ruppelt on Sunday, 9 November 1951.

Mr, was Captain on Capital Airlines Flight 94 on 24 lovember |
1951. His co-pilot wa )(first name unknown), ‘The flight was en-
route to Grand Rapids, Michigan, fro: a Muskegon, ilichigan,

At avoroximately 1835 EST (2325 2) bath pilots of the bO-3 noticed «
object appear in the Ni and cross thers course to the SW, The object Heart
to be at their sltitude, which was 1900 ft., and appeared to be between then
ond Grand Rapids, Michigan, They were over Coopersville, Michigan, at tha
time of sighting.

ihe object appeared to bs ¢ 12 Inchas in dismeter, round, “dullich blue"
Jight source with no tail, or trail, and was comparatively bright, ‘Yhe tra-
jJectory was flat, Af it arched 10 was so litlle that it could not be detected,
The object was viewed for 4 = 5 seconds until it AS wapEes ared in the distance,
The sources could not judga the hese hy unele the obje ah passed through, Its
appearance was noted due to its brightness, It ws not noticed aporoaching
from a great distance, but was noticed Cisappearing. The speed waa ju: dread to
be "terrific", it was estimated at 1000 mph, but this wos only a rough guess,

On landing at Grand Rapids, the pilot heard that the se ier operators had
also seen the object, He was interrogated over the phone by Air Defense people
from Selfridze, He also heard that the tower had intercepted a message from

_ -*

a net", (he could not give any more details on what net) saying thet oa redar
site, vhose location was classified, had picked up an unidentified return 20

miles cast of the station and he assumed that this was what they were asking
hin ebout over the phone. (Comments This radar pick-up has never been hear

of before and will be checked,)

Mr, WHIM voted that while he and the co-pilot judged the spin to
have passed west of Grand Raniris, tower cperatora in Grand Rapida atated that it
had been east of their location,

He noted that the night was very clear oxeept for the usual slight haze,
always found near Grand Rapids,

COMMENT: Ail during the conversation, it wes apparent that tr mention

4 se ©
did not believe this was a meteor, He mentioned the Poonsit tity of an LP euidarc

missile, It is apnarent that if this mal a ube a it% has no characteristics e
a normal meteor, He stated that he had seen all kinds of meteors and had nover
