SUBJSCT: Reporting of Information of Unconventional Aircraft Sighting

1. The fo is a report of }/Set. SRS o: given to
this officer, /Se% aliens is assigned to the 34L station of the 12th
Weather Squadron located at the Niagara falis Airport. ‘the tine of the
sighting was 0420B 1 June 1951. Bearing of the object was 080° from this
base. Distance and altitude of the object could not be definitely ascertained
by the witnessing observers. i\ieather prevailing »t the time was 10,000 ft.
broken clouds, 4 miles visibility with smoke, winds were WSW at 3 knots.

bullding in which the weather st«tion is located, Upon leaving the door
out of the building, “/Sgt SE noted an object, and then by tapping
oa the window of the weather station, motioned for the two airmen on duty
to come outside also, The following is a description of the object as
~iven by M/Sgt. The object appeared to be of the saucer tyne.
The center appeared to larger and brighter than the arc shaped wings
>rotruding from the center, Uoth the center and the outer clreunference
wers 2 glowing yellow-orange color. lo sound waa heard nor was any
oropulsion or trail noted. ovement of the object was vertical and
eastward. Object first appeared about 20° above the horizon, A definite
oscilating motion was noted, Object disappeared into the overcast after
approximately 30 to 40 seconds,

observed the object east of the base but were not able to estimate the altitude
nor the distance of the sizhting. Its flisht path anpeared to be easterly .
and wertically, elthough its vertical movement was not as creat procortional be
as its easterly movement. 'A definité counterclockwise gyro-like rotation }
was noted. It was observed by these two airmen for approximately 25 to 30 LN
seconds, No trail or exhaust was observed, AS

One DC-4 Cargo aircraft departed Buffalo Airport at O419B going to Chicago
