1. On 23 May 1951 source received a telephone call from a person identify ring
herself as 2 aes of , Great Falls, bontana, who

reported that she sighted an unidentified aerial object over tie city of Creat Palis
between 1430 and 1500 hours (MDT) on 22 May 1951. The woman stated that the object,
wnich was silver or a bluish white shade, appeared to be shaped like a ball or «=
three-pointed star and geve off a glow similar to that of an electric licht bulb.
During the visual observation, the object disappeared from sight occasionally ageinst
the blue background but consistently reappeared arainst the same blue backvround.

Tae object appeared to the observer to be at very high altitude and was moving slowly
in a general west-to-east direction.

2. Source cortacted the Great Falls AFB weather detachment and the Core Ficld
weather station. The former had no weather balloons in the air at that time, but
the latter reported that they had released a balloon at 14,00 hours on 22 Lay 1951.
This balloon wes vhite and moved in a west—to-east direction in its ascent.

3. A Great Falls radio station reported that a Northwest Airlines pilot reported
seeiry the same unidentified acrial : beset.

1. Another newscast on 23 “ay 1951 reported that an unidentified object of
sirilar ceseription was sirhted over Xansas City /sic/.
