Leader and Wing man at F-86 flight observed
what he believed to be a green flare pass
within 100-200 yeds then while flying at
26,000. Thought t 25,000.

Group, Griffiss AFB, subject usual Incident", EGF-2,
dated 1 uary 1951.
2. It has been located north of Anster-
dam, New York, could possibly have been the source of a projectile as
described in inclosed letter. -

taneously, a green flare descending at a steep angle, at their altitude,
approximately l00
appear similar to those fimed
"Very Fistol" and to dissipate at about 25,O00 feet.
. 3. Both the flight complete accord
as to the nature of the object as stated above and it is definitely be-
lieved that the sighting was not a result of canopy reflection or other
similar night peculiarity occasionally encountered.
