On 22 July 1950, at 1710 hour (alaska time) an widentified obj=o% ms sighted
over Iadd Air Force Base, at Fairbanim, Alaska. The objegt was siniiod

Object was red in color with two (2) white dots underneath wich scemed to revolve
around it. It was vewsd in shape, about three (3) feet in diancter and of wmilnowa
construction.

Object moved from East to Weot at an wmimown rate of sve2d. I[% appearsd to be
moving in a direct line with no evasive action, and slowly descending.
. Any exhaust emitted from the object evaporated very rapidly. The two (2) whito
Gots appeared to be reflectors. There were no visible means 2% support; no visible
means of propRlsion; no audible sound; no apparen’ air ducts; and no evidence of radio
antennae or irregular surface protuberances.
After the object had been almost st.ti mary for approximitely tysnty (20) minutes,
@ stream of snoks was noted. Immediately thereafter the objest exploded and

contacted in the vicinity reported there were no testing devices sont aloft by their
unite at the tine of sighting. ’
Toe following are the Co:ments appearing at the close of the jlaskin air Command
Intelligdnce Report 17-50: “Although the sources of information ure considered to de
feliable, the truth of tho incident cannot be evaluated with Jerondable objectivity: No
esterial interpretation can ba offered as to the origin or nature of th object mena-
tioned in this report. ‘The/passibility existe that the objects wre neseorolovical
balloons which might have floated into the immediate area from sono other station in
the Territory of alaska. The possibility also exists that the object sighted tus some
kind of terrestrial body."
COMMENT: Alaskan Air Command evaluated the report 8-6. Alasian Air Command original
report (Intelligenos Roport 17-50) was forvarded to the Dirsctor of
Intelligence, USAF, oe 5% DC. on 13 September 1950.

covering the reporting of an unidentified aerial object observed in tne vicinity of
ladd Air Force Base, Fairbanks, Alaska on 22 July 1950.
