thirty-two (32) inch weather balloon was released at Chat station every hour,
approximately on the hour from 0800 to 2400,

They ma da sound. had been looking at them a minute or two
when one of them seemed to jar or jerk then it vanished; the other one
went on south. In a minute, or a half minute something resembling
pieces of ashes came dowm drifting lightly in the wind. iL
seemed to be lighter in ashes from the floated in
the wind. whitesh colon vas coming north towards
the south;some pieces were half as large as a Most of
them were much I saw one piece seven inches long. I
started to go ngendooe - oked
web coming down. coming down from the north. They
were coming dowm fast and think they were catching on the leaves of the
trees. Uneopin Places were thick with them. There were millions of
them, the air be full of them Single strands shining in the
sunlight. They had a Golden tint. There were some pieces that seemed
to be large pieces spider webb that had tangled together Some of the
pieces had a long tail of single strands with heavy pieces at one end.

In about ten min tes I saw another oval coming from the east. It

came from. It was overhead when I watched it. It too woul:
swing half way around and then back and jerk like the
cther one did. Then the star-like the oval. It went
in a southenst direction; very fast. It wis some distance from the
large oval. Bright things larger than single vet
came from each side oval. They came oval in a
curve. They were so bright and many of them it hurt my eyes to loer
at them. There seemed to be millions coming They shined
like s spider sunlight. minute or less ashes or what
looked like flakes of ashes, were coming down. They were like the other
pieces I had seen. Then the spider web stuff came down. It locked i:.e

the ovals. It was going south. flakes of the ashes stuff and
spider web came drifting It seemed like I could
taste a bitter taste in nouth, the bi taste seemed to go on domm

after the first object again looked overhead and si hted another
object one in shape and and that it was
flying at the same altitude, in ti direction speed
as the first object. This object w kept proximately one (1)
minute before it disappeared. rmant stated that irom th eflection of the

used in airplanes. She Said that the sky at the time was void of clouds. Mrs.

On 29 of the United States Weather Bureau, McGee-
Tyson Airport, , Knoxville, Tennessee, vere contacted and stated that weather ballons
were released by that Bureau on 27 October 1949, at 0405,1000, 1602 and 2203; but
that no other meteorological instruments were released. They said that the ballons
were approximately thirty (30) inches in diameter, and that the color of the first
ballon was red, the was orange, the third was yellow and fourth Was orange.
