concarning his observation of an unfamiliar 7lying object. This om
servation was made in the vicinity of Sandberg Pass, forty (40) miles

Subject: Investigation of Unidentified Flying Object
jgusage shaped in that both the forward and trailing ends resembled
a 29 nose. The object was on a heading anvroximately Vorth to
South and approached SMM aircraft from 12 o'slock, ot which time
he made his first obdservation. The odject disapveared $5 tae rear
of the ll and then apparently 1+ made a 360° turn orocnund it ace
nade his second observation approximately fifteen (15) seconds later
when the odject appeared to his rizht and made a 150° turn in front of

206 of these observations was anvroximately twenty (°O) seconds. The

20,000 feet, vaby 10 miles. Temperature was 36, dew voint 34, with

‘oat was one (1) mile, with fog ceiling due to scattered stratecs.
Veataer conditions were rapidly changing at the time. whe object
appeared ak adons 20° above the observers horizon. Ita sise in com

oojectsa tail. Interrogation of experienced jet pilsts reveal that at
nigat no jet slow 1s viaibla unless observed from exactly behind the
aircraft, looking right up the tail ploe. Smiths co-pilot was in the
back of the fll at the tims of the odservation and saw nothing of the
abject. Suith attempted to contact another pilot flying a similar aia
aion who was aporoximately ten (10) miuutes behiad hin to ask him to
