"On March 23, 1948 an individual, who desired that her
identity be kept confidential, telephonically commmicated with this
office and indicated that she is the wife of a forner member of the
United Statea military forces, and is presently active in
Anerican Legion activities, but wa stating that she was
in no way bysterical or unduly app
conditions. She did , however, wis bring to the attenticn of the
proper authorities that during th past adx ox aks, on a
number of ocaasicns botween ths hours of 3 5:00 A.M., she has
heard peculiar sounding noiees in the sky, which appear to come from
airplanes in the distance, but the sound is not the type of airplane
notor drone which is generally heard from American planes. She has
discuased the watter with her husband, and he believes that the sound
is nore like, that of a foreign type airplans. recently discussed
